NOVICE MEETS
JV/VARSITY
- Nails must be cut short and will be checked by officials prior to competing.
- Wrestlers must shower and wash practice clothes immediately after every practice.
- Only wrestling shoes are to be worn on the mat. No Street shoes in the wrestling room.
- Wrestling shoes are only to be worn on the mat and not to or from practice.
- If your child has any redness/rash please have it checked out by a physician before returning to practice.
IN THE ROOM
- Due to the number of wrestlers in the room, parents should stay outside the room unless coaching with
- Please be sure to check for your wrestlers equipment after each practice.
- Base of Red and Gray Teams decided by school attended. There will be some moves based off of
- Red if your child will attend OMS: Kernsville, Kratzer, Schnecksville, Ironton,

- NOVICE SINGLETS will be handed out the Monday before Thanksgiving

NOVICE MEETS
- 6-8 mats in the gym, often there are multiple matches on each mat at the same time
- Weights are written on their hands with markers and coaches match up opponents by weight
- The goal is to get each wrestler 2-4 matches per event, depending on the number of wrestlers.
- Novice matches are typically low-pressure and for wrestlers to experience wrestling others and use
- There is no scoring. There are no wrestle-offs.
- The end of year VEWL Tournament is scored, with one match at a time and organized with brackets by
- Friday Emmaus matches will be in a different format with scoring, but still for the purpose of learning and
JV/VARSITY
- There are wrestle-offs as often as needed through the season to determine who will wrestle in an
